Can I input a specific address be used as a center point for analysis?
Yes, paid users can input an address as a centre point and this will then be used for your custom neighbourhood location.
In addition to this, the platform includes 9,300 'public locations', which are predefined and available to all users - paid and free. These locations are selected based on the busiest part of each suburb, so are typically a fair representation of the suburb lifestyle.
Can the data analysis catchment area size be adjusted based on our definition? Maybe I'd like to increase it to 20km for regional areas, and only 1km for prime CBD locations.
Yes, custom neighbourhoods allow you to define the neighbourhood in whatever shape and size you are seeking. It's important to note that there may be data quality issues if your shape is too small or narrow, and very large areas may yield unhelpfully aggregated results. We have more guidance on selecting the best location in our Help Centre, and our team are able able to assist if needed.
The place of origin analysis lists a lot of nearby suburbs. Can I confirm that if an a place of origin was large but from interstate, it should show up in this list? I think they’re a bit disappointed that they don’t have more interstate visitors.
The visitation analysis only shows visitation from within the same city, not interstate. HOWEVER the reason for this is that there are no Australian suburbs (other than airports)that have interstate visitors within the top 50 neighbourhoods. So I can confirm that Docklands does not have more interstate visitors than local visitors.
What happened to our Springly custom location? Since we received our new location the old one is no longer on the viewport when I open the log in anymore...
We've checked your account, and both locations are still available, however only the most recent custom location is linked to the Front Desk landing page (which may be where the confusion lies). The way to look up all your locations is using the 'Reports Menu' section of the "Insights Report" tool. Under the "Your customised reports" section, you will see both Springly and Greenvale, just below your saved public locations.
I know the custom locations are using the boundaries provided, but I was wondering if it's possible for the hot spots to have a more organic finish to the shapes rather than just being cut off.
Yes we understand this request, and I've had a lengthy discussion with our analysts around it. In short, this 'cutting' is analytically correct, and further smoothing would distort the results. Analytically, heatmaps need to be calculated on a regular 'step'. When an irregular shape is used (such as the polygons) we have to use latitude and longitude as this 'step'. which creates a rectangular shape boundary for analysis - along the lat/long steps. The effect of this 'cutting' is most pronounced when there is a highly active pocket close to the edge of the shape.
